The Space Between
Computers are important in design but sometimes an artist’s human touch can create a design that appeals to the human heart. Controversies continue to exist about the mechanization of our society and at times it seems that technology has overcome all aspects of contemporary life, but creativity endures. My art explores the creative process and how art and science can not only co-exist but can lead to exciting results. The mechanical grid, which I have placed over a fantastic, vibrant scene, emphasizes the natural quality of the original landscape. Nature cannot be improved in the traditional sense but it can be “revised” to become mysterious. This grid removes and imposes at the same time, thereby rendering the final work both human and mechanical. The Space Between allows us to imagine what could be when these two subjects are juxtaposed.
