WTA 2017 – STEAM

This exhibition showcases the creative visions of the high school students of the Peel District School Board, and how they use the intersection of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics – STEAM –  to define and redefine the possibilities of our future.

In a world that is constantly changing, we are all trying to understand the ebb and flow of the events and experiences that define our lives. The world, at one time, unfolded in a steady and constant pace. The world in which we now live is changing at an unparalleled rate, requiring us to be ever mindful of the intellectual tools that are required to define and explain what is happening all around us.

How we come to this understanding of the complex interactions that exist right in front of us differs for each person. No two people will perceive and understand the world in the same way. Some will look at the world with a scientific eye, looking to understand the fundamental nature and structure of the world from the microcosmic to the macrocosmic. Others may venture into the worlds of technology, looking at the inefficiencies of our physical and social lives. At the same time, there are individuals that see our world as a place to leave a footprint, designing and creating the tools and structures that define the time and place of a culture. And other still will see the world through complex patterns and relationships. All these people require an essential element to see the world anew; to be creative.
